The First United Methodist Church of Glendale and the United Methodist Women are hosting their first auction and fashion show for local charities. The Spring Luncheon and Charity Auction is at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at the First United Methodist Church, 7102 N. 58th Drive. The event will be hosted in the Fellowship Hall on the north side of the campus.
Though open to the public, tickets are $12 per person, or $7 for children under 12. Tickets include a catered, spring-themed lunch. Reservations are due by Tuesday, April 30.
“The United Methodist Women is excited to invite our community to our Spring Luncheon and Charity Auction. Come join us for great food and fun,” said Treasa Birchett, chairwoman of the Spring Luncheon and chairwoman of Lydia Circle.
This year’s United Methodist Women’s Spring Luncheon is dedicated to charitable giving in local missions. Activities include a “Donations Only” fashion show. Models will walk through the luncheon area, showing off their fashion couture. All the modeled clothing will be donated to Justa Center, an outreach that helps homeless seniors over the age of 55 on the journey back into housing.
There will also be a silent charity auction featuring items donated by various community and local business. Funds will benefit Maggie’s Place, which provides houses of hospitality and ongoing support to help pregnant and parenting women in need.
