Police arrest man suspected of committing 4 robberies

Brian Brown

El Mirage Police arrested a Glendale man outside his home June 29 in connection with multiple same-day robberies.
According to a police spokesperson, Brian Keith Brown, 26, was arrested in connection with four robberies in Phoenix.
On June 24, Phoenix police investigated a series of armed robberies in the early morning when they acquired a suspect description from witness accounts. Witnesses said the suspect used a small semiautomatic handgun during the robberies, the police spokesperson said.
During one of the robberies, the suspect fled in a U-Haul box truck, which authorities located in a nearby neighborhood. Police said they found clothing with paperwork belonging to Brown. U-Haul told police the vehicle was last seen at a smoke shop in north Peoria.
Peoria police said they then determined Brown was the former owner of the smoke shop and had previously been arrested during a narcotics search of the shop in early June. The shop was closed because Brown had not paid his rent.
The third robbery occurred at a Sonic Drive-In when the suspect pulled a gun on a carhop delivering his order and forced her into the business where he fled with cash. The final robbery occurred at another Sonic Drive-In location, where the suspect confused the carhop with his food bag from the other location, then stole money from a safe inside.
Police arrested Brown June 29 at his residence near Thunderbird Road and 59th Avenue. He faces four counts of armed robbery and was jailed without bond.
