Two people were killed and two others injured in a two-car accident Aug. 19 at the intersection of Camelback Road and 91st Avenue.
According to a police spokesperson, the crash happened around 3 a.m. when a white pickup truck heading west toward the intersection rear-ended a gray four-door sedan that was waiting to turn left. The sedan then hit a red SUV, officials said. The impact of the collision caused the truck to hit two more cars traveling west through the intersection.
The adult drivers of the truck and the sedan were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the police spokeswoman, and two of the SUV’s passengers were taken to a hospital. Officials did not know their condition as of press time.
The intersection was closed for nearly eight hours after the accident as police investigated. Investigators were working to determine whether speed or impairment played a role in the crash.
