Walmart is hiring approximately 75 associates to work at the new Walmart Neighborhood Market slated to open early next year at 5125 W. Olive Ave. To facilitate applications, the retailer has opened a temporary hiring center at 5525 W. Glendale Ave., Suite 103.

The hiring center began accepting applications Monday and will continue accepting applications from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Interested applicants can apply online at http://walmartstores.com/Careers/7745.aspx.

According to store manager Rob Sturman, the store will be hiring full- and part-time associates.

"We are excited to add this Walmart Neighborhood Market to Glendale and bring good jobs with career opportunities to the area," he said.

Sturman began his Walmart career in 2002 as an overnight stocker in Mesa.

Sturman said associates are needed to work in all areas of the new store, including supervisory positions.

Walmart benefits* - available to eligible full- and part-time associates - include healthcare insurance with no lifetime maximum. Walmart also offers a 401(k) plan and profit sharing contributions, whether an eligible associate contributes or not, store discount cards, stock purchase program and life insurance. Additionally, associates are eligible for company performance-based bonuses.

The majority of associates will begin work in December to help prepare the store for its grand opening in January.
