Woman Speaking At Group Neighborhood Meeting In Community Center

"The Western Maricopa Education Center (West-MEC) invites the community to provide feedback on the Arizona Department of Education’s career and technical education (CTE) state plan."

The Western Maricopa Education Center (West-MEC) — a public career technical education district — invites the community to provide feedback on the Arizona Department of Education’s career and technical education (CTE) state plan.

This Think Tank session will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday, September 19, at the START Center, 5405 N. 99th Avenue, Glendale.

Cathie Raymond, state CTE director, will present the state’s CTE plan for Carl Perkins funding and request comments from all attendees. West-MEC facilitators will lead discussions designed to provide feedback on the broader plan, as well as the specific metrics used to evaluate the effectiveness of Arizona CTE.

“The state plan guides what happens in career and technical education for the state of Arizona. Input from a broad range of stakeholders including parents, business people, educators and the general public is critical to ensuring that a plan is developed that provides every child access to the technical and professional skills needed for the careers they want,” said Dr. John Mulcahy, assistant superintendent of adult education and professional development.
