Police arrest suspect in fatal April shooting

Karriem Seymour, 52, was booked into the Maricopa County Fourth Avenue Jail on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Glendale police have arrested a man who is suspected of a homicide in early April.

According to police, Karriem Seymour, 52, was arrested on a felony warrant in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on May 16.

Glendale police initially responded to reports of a shooting in the area of 60th and Olive avenues around 5:45 p.m. April 6.

Officers found Damon Frye, 31, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.

Witnesses identified Seymour as the suspect, and revealed he had fled the scene before officers arrived.

Further investigation determined Seymour and Frye had been arguing in the apartment complex’s courtyard area during a barbecue. During the argument, Seymour retrieved a gun and shot Frye, who later died at the hospital despite life-saving efforts.
