Irrigation repair and maintenance

More than 50 percent of a typical household’s total water use is outdoors in the landscape. In this class from 10 a.m. to noon May 26, an irrigation specialist will cover irrigation components, irrigation problems and basic repairs. Guitar workshops for tweens

Youths ages 9 to 12 can learn the basics of playing the guitar during a series of six free one-hour lessons presented by the Phoenix Conservatory of Music 1 to 2 p.m. May 29, June 5, 12 and 19, and July 3 and 10. Classes will include instruction on warm-up techniques, finger-strengthening exercises, tuning, proper hand positions, note reading, chords, strumming and playing simple songs. Lessons are limited to 15 participants and guitars will be provided at Velma Teague Branch Library, 7010 N. 58th Ave. Registration is required.
