Lilly Oncology On Canvas, an art exhibition honoring the journeys people face when confronted by a cancer diagnosis, will be on display April 15 to 26 at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, 5555 W. Thunderbird Road.
The free public exhibit, which is touring communities nationwide, will showcase select pieces of art from the Lilly Oncology On Canvas competition. Themes explored in this inspiring collection range from fear and hope, to loss and survival, to isolation and the embrace of family and friends.
The artwork will be displayed in the hospital’s main lobby and radiation oncology waiting room 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during its stay at Banner Thunderbird.
Launched in 2004, the Lilly Oncology On Canvas Art Competition and Exhibition invites people from the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada, who are diagnosed with any type of cancer – as well as their families, friends, caregivers, and healthcare providers – to express, through art and narrative, the life-affirming changes that give their cancer journeys meaning. Winners’ prizes consist of donations made to the cancer-related charities of their choice. Art from the competition tours hospitals, cancer centers, and cancer advocacy group events. To date, Oncology On Canvas has received more than 3,600 entries. Visit www.lillyoncologyoncanvas.com.
