Skeete Glendale’s scapegoat?

How convenient.

Within two weeks on the job, City Manager Brenda Fischer has “suspended indefinitely” Assistant City Manager Horatio Skeete on “open-ended” leave.

Exactly what does that mean?

Is it to keep him from the mayor (who states “he heard rumors that something was going to happen”), the city council, the public, and even newspaper reporters from spilling the beans on all of the city’s “creative” budget shenanigans?

Especially, with the $50 million going to the NHL and now $15 million a year to IceArizona? Who is directing the shifting of funds around in this financial shell game? It certainly is not Mr. Skeete, because he gets directions from our city council.

What happened to the “open” request for proposal bidders to manage the Arena for a budgeted $6 million?

A much deeper investigation is needed on our current mayor, city council members, and the last administration that got Glendale into this financial quagmire in the first place.

I was an employee for almost 25 years before retiring - in middle management. To blame department heads for the transferring of funds would be like blaming ticket takers for all the Diamondbacks losses. Under Mr. Beasley's reign, it did not happen. Everything began with him or went through him before "anything" ever was implemented.

By the time the audit report reaches the public it will be so watered down. Creative spin is the mission for the City of Glendale. Is Skeete the scapegoat--ummmmmmmm, why, in my opinion, yes he is! There is more to this story & something very fishy. When he was the Assistant City Manager, he took direction from the City Manager. So any budget, administrative decision finances, etc most likely was a directive from City Manager. When he was interim City Manager he took direction from City Council, so what they wanted was a directive from them. I am tired of Glendale's "creative spin" & what I call "distorted representations". I am also tired of ignoring what the citizens want and services they want. The City has zero credibility.

I believe with the audit taking place and oversight from the new City Manager the inquiries you're suggesting are already taking place. Your defense of Mr Skeete however appears to be more sentiment on your part and hardly in keeping with due-diligence of the process..... Nothing is keeping Mr Skeete from sommunicating other than the sensitivity to an on-going inquiry.... let's wait and see what the audits reveal before we assign or absolve blame to ANYONE.
