The Meadows Community Center hosts grand opening

May 31, a Peoria neighborhood celebrated the opening of The Meadows Community Center, a 4,500-square-foot neighborhood amenity at The Meadows at Camino a Lago master-planned community.

Peoria Councilmember Jon Edwards shared his thoughts on the success of the community and how its development is a win for the entire city of Peoria.

Cari Crew, The Meadows HOA community manager, began the grand opening with some words of thanks to the residents, the contractor SD Crane Builders, Maracay Homes and the other homebuilders within the community, and the city of Peoria for sharing in the community vision and granting the necessary approvals to allow the building to be developed by The Meadows HOA.

The new open-air, flex space center features a 1,600-square-foot meeting room, a 2,900-square-foot heated pool and spa, a gas fire pit and fireplace, a barbecue, ramada, bocce ball courts, pickle ball court, misters and heaters, outdoor showers and more. The community center is located at the corner of 98th Avenue and Speckled Gecko Drive, within The Meadows master-planned community.

The Meadows at Camino a Lago was developed by Communities Southwest and closed the first land sale in 2012. Maracay joined the community in 2015 with a 173-homesite land purchase, followed by another land purchase of 299 homesites 15 months later. The combination of those two parcels — valued at more than $48 million — represented the largest homebuilder transaction that had occurred in Peoria in more than a decade, since well before the Great Recession.
