The Glendale Parks & Recreation Division is currently accepting registration for a fall football league for boys and girls ages 7 to 12.
The league will emphasize physical fitness, equal participation and social and skill development. Games begin Sept. 29 and will be held between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Saturdays at Sahuaro Ranch Park on the northeast/northwest soccer fields, near 63rd Avenue and Mountain View Road (north of the softball complex).
Players must sign up for the division of play in which they are eligible, determined by their age as of Sept. 29. The division ages are as follows:
Pee Wee 7 to 9 years old
Rookies 10 to 12 years old
Volunteers, ages 18 and older, are needed to coach teams. Practices can begin the week of Sept. 10, if enough parents and volunteers sign up to coach. The practice location, day(s) and time(s) are determined by the volunteer coach. Most practices are 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. any day Monday through Thursday and no more than twice a week.
Registration fee for each child is $55 (Glendale resident) or $75 (non-resident), which includes a team shirt and eight regular-season games. Deadline to register is Aug. 24. Late registration is held Aug. 18 to 24 and will include an additional $10 late fee.
