Germinator has expanded its sterilization and sanitation services to Glendale.

In the age of COVID-19, cleanliness is at the forefront of daily life. Today, many people have turned to cleaning companies to protect against household bacteria and germs.

Germinator Mobile Sanitizing and Disinfecting company is one of the leading cleaning providers in the nation. In July, the company expanded to Arizona by establishing roots in Glendale. The franchise currently provides services throughout Maricopa County, Flagstaff, Tucson and Prescott.

Glendale owners Robert Blankenship and Greg Cook are childhood best friends. They joined the franchise with a goal in mind—to create a healthier, safer and more comfortable environment for the community.

“It was a no brainer to open up to Arizona,” Cook said. “The community has been so positive, and we have nothing but great reviews since we have opened to the public.”

Germinator uses a two-step process to help reduce the spread of bacteria and viruses like the novel coronavirus.

The first step, called Genesis, uses hypochlorous acid to kill bacteria, mold, mildew, viruses and odors caused by bacteria.

“HOCI is a nontoxic, near-neutral pH, hospital-grade sanitizer and disinfectant,” Blankenship said. “So, it is very effective in killing these harmful bacteria.”

The second step uses Germinator’s Shield. It is a long-lasting, invisible microbial coating that aims to protect and prevent the regrowth of bacteria.

Cook described the process at a Goodyear facility they are currently treating.

“Before and after each cleaning, we test the surfaces with an ATP reader that essentially tells us how clean the surface is,” he said.

Cook explains that an ATP reading over 100 is a fail, under 100 is a pass, and those under 50 are equal to hospital-grade cleanliness.

“The facility has a big staff and a large break room. To begin, we tested the kitchen’s microwave before treatment. The handle picked up a reading of 5,000,” Cook said. “That is the highest number I have ever come across, and it completely floored everyone.”

After treating the space, Cook said they retested the same handle and it resulted in an ATP reading of 90.

“Germinator is a lot more effective than having to use and reuse hand sanitizer or Clorox wipes every five minutes,” Blankenship said. “Our application gives clients peace of mind knowing everything is and that there is some added protection on top of that.”

The franchise is mobile and offers door-to-door services. Germinator also makes virtual and phone consultations available to those interested in future cleanings.

“We are willing to help craft a plan with customers and look at pricing that works for them,” said Blankenship.

“We understand many local businesses have suffered at the hands of the pandemic,” Cook added. “We just want them to know that we are here to help.”
