Joan Carol (Doolittle) Beyer, 73, of Glendale died July 23, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert C. and Ester E. Doolittle.
She has one brother, Robert C. Doolittle Jr. of Plainville, Ct.
Mrs. Beyer was born Jan. 18, 1943, in New Britain, Ct. She attended the Plainville Public Schools. She graduated PHS in June of 1961, having been in the National Honor Society all four years. She was also a Rainbow Girl and a member of the Eastern Star.
In April of her freshman year, she started dating her future husband, Frederick G. Beyer. They were married Sept. 2, 1961 in Plainville. They moved to Arizona Oct. 8, 1963, after Fred was transferred to Luke Air Force Base. They fell in love with Arizona and stayed after Fred was discharged from the USAF.
They have one son, Frederick G. Beyer II, a daughter-in-law, Tasha, and two grandsons, Frederick G. Beyer III, and Benjamin James.
Mrs. Beyer was active in a number of areas; one of the founders of the Atoms Div. of the Desert Hockey Assoc., PALS (old Northwest Hospital), Glendale Junior Women Club, new letter editor for VBSC, Glendale Optimist Club and the Fab. 50’s Ford Club. She loved to cook and bake. Each Christmas, she would bake a dozen Christmas Stolen that went to family and friends in Connecticut and Arizona.
