Allene La Forest Schneider was born to Ernest and Beulah Saulvester Feb. 13, 1919 in Mexico, Mo. She died Dec. 27, 2016 in Glendale.
Mrs. Schneider left Missouri at a young age to expand her horizons in Southern California. She went to beauty school and was a hard-working beautician for more than 50 years.
During WWII, she was a volunteer for the Civil Air Patrol. After the war, she lived in Big Bear, Calif., where she owned a beauty salon. She raised her two children, Yvonne Knaack (David) and Gary La Forest (Jo Dee) on the Colorado River at Echo Lodge until moving to Phoenix in 1960. She married Mike Schneider in 1985 and they resided in Cottonwood until his death in 1998.
She is predeceased by her parents, two brothers and a niece. She leaves behind her children, grandchildren: Seanna Devereaux, Jessica Leiler, Kali Knaack, Brandon La Forest, Jason La Forest and Shelby La Forest. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren: Zachary Garrow, Devin Devereaux and Kaydance Heathman. She will also be missed by her nephews: Jerry Saulvester and Merlin Elam; step-children, Patricia Hammond and Carol and Dee Witherell.
Mrs. Schneider will be buried in Cottonwood next to her late husband, Mike, with just a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, make a donation in her name to the Salvation Army of Glendale, PO Box 6000, Glendale, AZ 85301.
