Meet Libby: The one-tap library reading app
Staff will be on hand to guide those who wish to learn how to download and use the new Libby app by Overdrive on a tablet or computer, to borrow thousands of free eBooks and audiobooks from noon to 1 p.m. April 7 at the Velma Teague Branch Library, 7010 N. 58th Ave. For more information, call 623-930-3430.
New and beginning readers between the ages of 4 and 10 are invited to read with the library’s teen volunteers in a four-week-long program. Readers can sign up each week for half-hour reading sessions at the Youth Desk. Registration begins one week before the reading week, which runs from 4 to 5 p.m. April 9, 16, 23 and 30. Youths ages 10 to 18 are invited to brainstorm ideas for a tandem story, then break into groups and create cooperative fiction pieces to share at the end of the class, which takes place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. April 9 in the creative space of the Main Library, 5959 W.
