Officials advise local businesses to be aware of a possible scam after a local business reported it had received a call from someone with “Sports Media” of San Antonio, asking the business to buy advertising space in “a poster for Glendale High School.” The local business contacted Glendale High School to say it was not able to purchase an ad for the poster.

Julie Patton, assistant principal of athletics for Glendale High School, contacted the business owner to say the school did not contract services from Sports Media, nor was it selling ads for a poster.

Glendale Union High School District Superintendent Brian Capistran told members of a local service club Aug. 9 about the scam, warning them about becoming victims of the reported scam.

Glendale High School has not authorized nor is it receiving any proceeds from the poster sales. The school plans to file a report with the Auditor General’s Office and has asked for help in spreading the word to local businesses.  Anyone who is contacted by this company is asked to call Glendale Union High School District at 623-435-6000.
