The Peoria Unified School District Governing Board announced four PUSD superintendent finalists.
The following finalists will be invited to interview with the Governing Board and stakeholder teams on Dec. 9 and 10:
Dr. Alexa Cunningham. superintendent of Salt Lake City School District in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dr. Jason Reynolds, deputy superintendent of Peoria Unified School District.
Dr. Arsenio Romero, superintendent of the Deming Public Schools in Deming, New Mexico.
Dr. Scott Menzel, superintendent of Washtenaw Intermediate School District in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The finalists will meet with teams, comprised of parents, students and support staff, in two weeks.
PUSD Superintendent Linda Palles Thompson announced her intent to retire at the end of this school year.
The new superintendent is expected to begin July 1.
According to PUSD, “community feedback will be integrated into the process.” Details have not been announced.
PUSD has released an updated timeline on the process:
Nov. 18: Executive session and selection of superintendent finalists.
Monday, Dec. 9: Finalist interviews with Governing Board and stakeholder teams.
Monday, Dec. 9: “E-forum” to introduce finalists to the community.
Tuesday, Dec. 10: Additional finalist interviews with Governing Board and stakeholder teams
Monday, Dec. 16: Governing Board executive session followed by special board meeting At this meeting, the board may vote to enter into contract negotiations with a finalist.
Peoria Unified School District has 42 schools in Glendale and Peoria, with 37,000 students and 4,000 staff.
