A drive-by shooting on the Loop 101 freeway May 7 left a 2-year-old girl with superficial injuries.
Just prior to 9 p.m., a 25-year-old mother was driving south on the Loop 101 with her young daughter. After passing Northern Avenue, they were cut off by another vehicle.
The mother then went in front of the vehicle, and as the vehicle went to pass her for a second time, she heard three gunshots coming from it.
The mother pulled over to check for any injuries to her daughter but did not see anything. After getting home, she removed her daughter from the car seat and noticed the toddler was bleeding. She immediately took her to the hospital.
Doctors at the hospital determined the wound was superficial, and she’s expected to make a full recovery.
Police describe the suspect as a dark-complected male between the ages of 30 to 40 years old with a mustache. He was last seen driving a white four-door sedan.
