A Peoria Police officer arrested Erin Taylor, of Glendale, and charged her with hitting him with her vehicle.
According to Mitchell Fuller, a Peoria Police spokesman, a Ross Dress for Less employee flagged down Peoria Police Officer James Hunter the night of June 12 and said a customer was shoplifting.
“Officer Hunter made contact with the (suspect) who was standing outside of her vehicle and not following directions. The female walked around the vehicle and got into the driver seat of the vehicle. Officer Hunter ordered her out of the vehicle and attempted to physically remove her from the vehicle when she placed the vehicle in reverse and accelerated, running over Officer Hunter’s leg and pinning him against his squad car that was parked behind her vehicle,” Fuller said.
After Taylor allegedly drove away, Hunter followed her.
Fuller said Taylor was arrested after she crashed her vehicle and attempted to run away.
Hunter was treated at a hospital and then was released.
Taylor, who has previous drug convictions, faces charges of aggravated assault, drug possession, unlawful flight from law enforcement, DUI and theft.
