The Holiday Open House kicks off the season at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14.
Presented by the Historic Downtown Glendale Merchants Association, the event starts at the Arizona Information Center, 5836 W. Palmaire Avenue, where activity lists and new Downtown Walking Maps will be available.
Events continue through the day, with many of the shops and restaurants having extended hours into the early evening to celebrate the 24th annual event.
Special gift-wrapping stations will be set up with a “Tree Trail” guiding walkers to shops and restaurants.
Activities include make-and-take crafts, holiday music and ornament making for the Patriotic Community Tree at the corner of 58th Drive and Palmaire Avenue.
A new Downtown Walking Map will debut at the Holiday Open House. The map will feature an extensive listing of the downtown businesses in an easy-to-read-and-follow format.
The charity partner for this year’s Holiday Open House is the Blue Star Moms of the Southwest Valley. Supplies will be collected to fill holiday care packages the Blue Star Moms will send to deployed military around the world.
The event highlights Historic Downtown Glendale’s two distinct historic districts.
Catlin Court features mature shade trees and welcoming front porches lined with picket fences.
The Old Towne District is home to unique shops and a growing Restaurant Row along red brick sidewalks.
The two districts span 12 blocks filled with locally owned small businesses.
